Blame The Beach For This Interruption

There are those who would have podcasters believe that they have to grind out episodes, day after day, week after week, month after month, and never take a break. I am not one of those. ‘Cuz that’s dumb.

Mental health is important to podcasters. Family is important to podcasters. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is important to podcasters.

But podcasters don’t always get to focus on those things. Sometimes podcasters are busy focusing on other important things, like keeping income flowing—either directly from the podcast or in other ways—so that they can keep on podcasting.

Perhaps that describes you. I know it’s described me from time to time. So if you’re swimming in it right now, you have my sympathies. May you claw your way out and back to some semblance of normalcy and balance soon.

This Is Not A Normal Episode of Podcast Pontifications

If you’re a brand new or an infrequent listener—and I get it: I put out a lot of content—then this episode is going to sound unusual. And that’s because it is unusual. Here’s why:

In acknowledgment of all of those important things I just mentioned (and all the ones I missed); I’m not producing episodes this week. Nope. I'm on vacation with some family members as I work less on the “work” side and more on the “life” side of the equation.

Specifically, I’m exploring some of the beaches of Belize in Central America if you’re curious. And while I agree that it would be fun to record my podcast from Belize—a country that already has many podcasters—I'm not going to do that. At least, not on this trip.

Instead, I'm going to enjoy this warm Caribbean ocean right outside my hotel room. I'm going to eat lots of rice and beans, maybe some tree chicken (Google at your own risk), try to drink the country out of Belkin, and attempt to sneak the occasional fried plantain from Sheila Dee’s plate.

I’ll post lots of quirky photos and random thoughts on my Twitter account as is my wont, so follow me over there if you need to know what I’m doing in the moment. Or if you want to live vicariously through me for a week.

But I promise to you that I shall be back on Monday, October the 11th, 2021 with yet another Podcast Pontifications.

Cheers!
